Time Tracker — Privacy Policy

Effective July 23, 2026

Time Tracker ("the app") is a personal time-tracking and invoicing tool. This policy explains what information the app handles and how, in plain terms.

Short version: Time Tracker doesn't have a server, doesn't collect analytics, doesn't show ads, and doesn't share or sell any data to anyone. Everything you enter stays on your device and, if you enable sync, in your own personal iCloud account — never on servers we operate, because we don't operate any.

Information you enter into the app

The app stores information you choose to enter in order to track time and generate invoices and time reports, including:

This information is provided entirely by you. We do not collect it, and we have no access to it.

How your data is stored

All data is stored locally on your device in a private, on-device database. On Mac, your data is also synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database — the same kind of storage Apple uses for apps like Notes or Reminders. This data is encrypted and accessible only to you, through your own Apple ID. On iPhone and iPad, the app currently stores data locally on-device only, with iCloud sync unavailable for the time being. In every case, we do not have a copy of your data, and no data ever passes through any server we operate, because the app doesn't have a backend at all.

Notifications

The app can send you local reminders (for example, to send your monthly time report). These reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device — nothing about them is sent anywhere.

Emailing and sharing invoices or time reports

When you choose to email an invoice or time report, the app opens your device's own Mail app with the recipient, subject, and PDF pre-filled, and you send it yourself from your own email account. The app itself never sends email or transmits the PDF to any third-party service. The same applies to printing or using the share sheet — these hand off to system features on your device.

Third parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your information to any third party, advertiser, or analytics provider, because none are integrated into the app.

Children's privacy

Time Tracker is a business tool intended for adults managing their own freelance or contracting work, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your control over your data

You can edit or delete any client, project, category, or time entry at any time directly within the app. Since synced data lives in your own iCloud account, you can also manage or remove it via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device. Deleting the app removes the local copy of your data from that device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date above.
